As a photographer I love the general direction of this project, but I can't help but wonder whether you guys are making the most of the available platform. In other words, is there something else that can really put you guys head and shoulders over flickr and the like?

As far as the technical implementation goes, you might want to look into adding and parsing captions in your application. For example, if I take a photo and caption it "Fred in Killian Court" your software could trigger on the preposition and ask me whether Killian Court is a place. If so, it could associate a Cell Tower ID (or use GPS), and forever after automatically tag photos taken in Killian Court.

Great presentation, and this looks like it will be a fun project.

I like the general premise, but a lot of services like the one proposed do exist. Check out: http://gallery.greatestjournal.com/
as one example that i pulled up within a minute of searching. As far as I know i've heard of a lot of services using the same basic premise. In order to be really successful, I think you're going to have to really have an incredible GUI and some way of interfacing with online communities like facebook or myspace.

I like the basic idea, and I think that there is a lot of momentum that you can pick up by adding a GPS feature, even better, using cell tower triangulation so that people can use the location based services immediately.

I also like this idea, any my only concern would be that there are, as chandan said, several services like this. www.kmobile.com etc., but if you can integrate and successfully market the GPS aspect of this it could be great

Great Idea! I'm really looking forward to using the software. It is a very good thing to have an online backup of all your pictures without having to take time to actually create such bakup. Plus, the social usefulness for people who like looking at their friends' pictures is great. Also, this project can affect and can be used by a large number of people.

Great idea, its like an enhanced webshots. It would be good to see how accurate cell id trinagulation is, and if possible, if you could put in GPS waypoints for certain locations and when near that area, the cell ids could triangulate close enough to that location to give it an approximate GPS waypoint

This seems like a pretty good project. One possible consern that I could see in the eventual marketing of such a program would be that many people might not be willing to upload that much data due to limited data plans (but this may not be the case)
